Road Trip!!! My Go-To (Homestead Friendly) Toddler Travel Snacks

Still on the road! Gosh, it’s hard to eat healthy when traveling. My first reality check was at our “free” continental breakfast. I thought oh boy, can’t go wrong with sausage and eggs!. Except, you can, because in a hotel the “eggs” come pre-packaged in a bag and the hotel staff couldn’t tell me if the sausage was even gluten free. My 1 year old usually scarfs down eggs and sausage at home but wouldn’t touch the stuff at the hotel.

Breakfast aside, it is hard to travel with kids and maintain some degree of health. We definitely purchased more pre-packaged snacks than I’m proud to admit, but that’s the reality we lived in.

But it got me to thinking- what could I do better with next time we travel. How could I put a little bit more effort into prep of food that would actually sustain my family and leave us feeling better along the way. Some of these items we brought with us and some of us I came up with afterwards, but my 20/20 hindsight is your foresight.

  1. Homemade GF Peanut Butter Granola Bars
  2. Mini GF Banana Muffins
  3. Hard Boiled Eggs

  6. Pre-cut Cucumbers or Carrot Slices and Hummus
